Surprise Proposal in Breckenridge | Kyle and Margi

In less than a month, Kyle and Margi will say their “I do’s” in their hometown of South Bend, Indiana. Knowing the two of them, the day will be easy-going, full of fun and dripping in love. I thought for today’s post, I would show you a little about their engagement.

Kyle contacted me because he wanted to have his proposal to girlfriend, Margi captured on film while they were vacationing in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. After many calls to get the day setup just perfectly, they arrived at Sapphire Point in Breckenridge. If you know the point, you know it’s awe-inspiring but you also know there are not a ton of places to “hid out” except for the bathrooms. So I hid behind them being careful to be as quiet as I could so she wouldn’t see me. She had no idea – they never do – they are so lost in the beauty of the moment you could be standing right next to them. I love that about love. It completely envelopes you in the moment.

After the proposal, Kyle gave away the secret (that I was there) and we spent the next hour playing in the snow and capturing their personalities. I hope you enjoy the images…

Day Gone to the Dogs and Cats | Denver Pet Photography

So I am a self-professed lover of dogs (and cats, and pretty much all animals). Their zeal and zest for life is totally intoxicating! Here is a quick shoot I did for some friends  – Duncan, is the Basset Hound and Thorp, is the German Shepard and the cats, they are the cats in my alley I have been caring for for the past 5 years.  D&T_1D&T_2D&T_3

Vail Engagement Photography | Kat & Kaitlin | Winter in Vail

Vail is a place I work often and a place I love deeply. When Kat first called me to do a session with her and her girlfriend Kaitlin in Vail, I was of course excited.  Winter time is so special in Vail – The quiet serenity, the tourists enjoying the snow, the relaxed nature of the locals and the beauty of the mountains.

These girls were just my style. Easy-going, funny, loving and adventurous. At no time did they say, “You want me to what?” – I ADORE that. Colorado was having a cold spell that week and it was really cold that day but they were game for anything – even the sign that said mountain lion’s spotted in the area didn’t phase them.

Wedding Wars 2014 – Who won?

In January, Rocky Mountain Bride, GoBreck and Baldoria on the Water sponsored the Wedding Wars Bridal Show. This is our second annual event and we loved it even more than the first time. My favorite bridal show, I’ve created, to date!! Here is what a fellow wedding professional said about the show ”

“There are bridal shows, and then there are bridal SHOWS! Straight up – some bridal shows are huge and can be daunting to take on! There is a wealth of information, but they can definitely be overwhelming. I remember going to those shows as a bride and feeling trapped. There were so many people, all moving in one direction, and I couldn’t move the other way, even if I really wanted to!

I hate being forced to go somewhere that I don’t want to go. I hate feeling trapped. I knew that I felt that way as a bride, and I have really focused on being a part of the smaller, more boutique bridal shows as a wedding professional. I MUCH prefer the smaller shows – these amazing collaborations of talented professionals, where brides get to see some firsthand wedding inspiration. Doable ideas, things that can inspire them to build the wedding of their dreams.

And that, my friends, is what Wedding Wars is. I have now had the privilege of being a part of Wedding Wars for two years now, and I love it every time! The couples have a chance to actually TALK with people and get ideas, and they get to vote for their favorite setup.”

Well, we didn’t want to keep you all in suspense about what all the inspired creations (wedding vignettes) looked like and who won the WARS!
