I am a dog lover. Well, really an animal lover. I get ‘the fever’ around dogs and puppies like other women do around babies. I have three rescue dogs of my own that are my whole life! Taking cherished photos of your pets is one of my greatest joys in life. Today post is about a lovely Labrador named Kate who made quite the impact on my life and the lives of her humans.

Walking Miss Katie

My dear friend Aubrey owns a pet sitting business, The Pet Valet. Katie Kate, a senior black Labrador Retriever, was one of her clients. The dog walker who had been walking Katie became very ill and had to take a few months off from work. From time to time, I have stepped in to help when Aubrey needed it just as she has for me in my business and life. That’s how friendship works.

I happened to live near this particular dog client and offered to help walk Katie Kate, aka Katie Bug aka Katie Love Bug, in the interim. Boy, did I fall in love with this black lab if all the terms of endearments didn’t make it apparent! When the employee came back to work, I told Aubrey that I wanted to keep walking Katie until she moved on to doggy heaven. At this point, Kate was at least 12 which is the average lifespan of a black lab. I kept walking her until she passed. I loved her like one of my own. We were kindred spirits! Even now my eyes tear up remembering all the joy she brought to my life.

I believe dogs, and all domesticated animals, are a part of the family. We all want to have joyful photos of our loved ones to capture their milestones and personality, right?
