Denver Fourth of July Rooftop Wedding, Aubrey + Leif

Today on the blog is a 4th of July rooftop wedding celebration of my dear friends.

Aubrey and Leif’s grew up in the same small town in Nebraska, but never met one another. Coincidentally, Aubrey’s dad was Leif’s football coach, so they had heard of one another, but didn’t start talking until they connected on Facebook a few years ago. The groom was drawn to her images online of Colorado and wanted to bring his kids to come hiking and explorer. They soon realized they had much in common.

Despite their small town upbringings, the bride is a total city girl. They combined their interests and ideas to create a unique personalized rooftop wedding, combining urban feel and warm family appeal. Their summer wedding incorporated July 4th fireworks, hamburgers and ice cream and craft cocktails, all their warm weather favorites.

The groom’s children were part of the ceremony and the couple tried to add items that would include their participation and honor their beginning as a new family unit. The groom’s 5 yr old declared that he wanted to be a “Knight” after getting edged out of ring bearer spot by his older brother, so they “knighted” him, complete with costume and sword. The rings were carried in a hollowed out geode because Leif’s 10 yr old son liked to collect them.
